The third part of the book loop general relativity, loop quantum cosmology is basically a review of very technical material. This is where the book touches the topic announced in the title, but by then all arguments follow a physics line of reasoning: no rigorous proofs, renormalizations, divergences, etc.

Again, I have gone through a text in mathematical physics on which my expectations have not been fulfilled. Maybe next time. Loop quantum gravity has emerged as a possible avenue towards the quantization of general relativity. This book is an introduction to this topic, which is at the level of a graduate student in Theoretical Physics.

The book covers: general relativity, hamiltonian mechanics, Yang-Mills theories, quantum mechanics, quantum field theories and loop quantum gravity. Skip to main content.

### About this course

Get involved in higher-level research in nanotechnology, cosmology, or quantum computing. Or develop groundbreaking technologies in renewable energy, medicine, or manufacturing. What's the difference?

You may select advanced-stream courses for algebra, calculus, and computer science if you meet the requirements. With your remaining classes, you can choose electives from many of the subject areas at Waterloo. Study the mathematical and theoretical sides of physics and be well-prepared to embark on a career in research and development or to pursue specialized graduate studies.

Available as a co-op and regular program. Earn a Bachelor of Mathematics or Bachelor of Science degree. By alternating school terms and paid co-op work terms throughout your degree, you can explore new career areas and types of employers as your career interests evolve.

## A First Course in Mathematical Physics : Colm T Whelan (author) : : Blackwell's

Waterloo ranks top 10 in Canada for Physics and Astronomy. Offered by the Faculties of Science and Mathematics. Waterloo ranks among the top 50 universities in the world for math.

You can add additional areas of expertise to your degree by including one or more of the minors available to all Waterloo students. Mathematical Physics graduates commonly pursue careers in industry analysis and modelling, software development and theoretical physics research with nuclear power companies, tech companies, engineering firms, and more.

Many graduates also pursue specialized master's and PhD studies. Plan to live in residence? Live in a Science Academic Cluster and meet other first-year Science students. Form a study group or walk to class together with your new classmates.
